Peabody are looking to recruit a Senior Environmental Operative part of the Grounds Maintenance team based at Hailey Road, Erith,Kent DA18 4AA.

Salary is £23640 PA , 25 days a year’s annual holiday (pro rata)  plus bank holidays . 35 hour standard working week, attendance bonus payable at  Christmas time of around £800, uniform and training.

To organise on site work allocation for a small team predominately grounds maintenance services and some cleansing activities .This is including the provision of plant, equipment and tools including their use, maintenance and repairs . Be able to maintain flower beds , grass areas , shrubs and woodlands . Have an understanding of horticulture , seasons , planting and pruning . Be able to work out side in all weathers . Be self-motivated and able to use initiative, prioritise work load and plan to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities:

To be responsible for team briefing and communications

To deal with any people related matters on site, and refer complex matters to the Supervisor

To establish, develop and maintain effective working relationships with all work colleagues and tenants to ensure an effective service delivery

To represent the organisation positively both internally and externally

To positively comply with the organisation’s policies, procedures and systems, ensuring compliance with the needs of legal, regulatory and statutory bodies as well as best practice principles.

To follow Peabody Health and Safety policies and procedures to ensure, as far as is practicable, your own safety and that of others in the workplace.

 Skills/experience required:

Essential:

 

Self-motivated and able to use initiative, prioritise work load and plan to meet deadlines and must be able to work as part of a team

Proven ability to work in all weathers in an outdoor environment

Experience of supervision of a small site-based team

Experience of using a wide range of equipment and tools

Understanding of Health and Safety in the workplace, with the ability to apply this with due regard whilst working in public areas

Ability to carry out environmental works as contained in the job description paying particular attention to the very physical nature of the work and working in cold and dirty conditions

Ability to use smart phones

Ability to demonstrate practical experience in the use of a wide range of powered equipment with the ability to train as and when required

Qualifications required:

Current driving licence
