The Old Oak Centre on the Old Oak Estate in East Action provides a wide range of activities and services for people of all ages from the local community in a safe, friendly and welcoming environment. Our current staff of ten are a friendly team leading on the delivery or hosting of a range of programmes and initiatives, including the Children’s Centre; children’s holiday and youth clubs; volunteering; ESOL and community-led groups. We also play a key role in supporting health and wellbeing across Hammersmith and Fulham through the delivery of borough-wide contracts for Maternity and Community Champions.

We are commissioned by the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham to run a Children’s Centre at Old Oak. This involves us working in partnership with parents, carers, local agencies, community groups and a wide range of professionals to develop, promote, deliver and host high quality services for children 0-19 years and expectant families in the Old Oak reach area (comprising College Park and Old Oak, and Wormholt and White City wards).

The Children’s Centre directly delivers:

  • ‘universal services’ at Level 1 for children and parents together, such as ‘baby stay and play’ and ‘stay and learn’
  • a number of Level 2 services for families with additional needs, such as parenting courses and employment and training advice

We host other services for children, young people and families, including Level 2 family support ‘case holding’,  midwifery, perinatal mental health services, advice services, an after school club and youth club. The Centre’s existing timetable is here: https://oldoakcentre.co.uk/whats-on/

This postholder will be responsible for the Children’s Centre at Old Oak. We’re looking for a person with management experience within a children’s centre who can successfully plan and deliver our ‘in house’ offer and work creatively with external partners to ensure we host a wide range of services that meet the needs of local families. The postholder will lead a small team of three, as well as carrying out direct work with families as needed

This is a fixed term contract for 12 months.
